Reflecting on My Initial Month with Digital Discovery Podcast

When I took the first step into podcasting with my show, the Digital Discovery Podcast, around a month back, I wasn't quite sure how the digital realm would respond. But the reception has been nothing short of phenomenal, with thousands of listens and views across all platforms over 30 days—it's been an incredible journey of learning, growth, and connection.

The Digital Discovery Podcast manifests my dedication to shedding light on the latest digital trends in Australia and globally. We’ve managed to ensure a widespread reach by broadcasting across all major platforms: Apple Podcasts, Spotify (audio and video), YouTube, and SoundCloud. This broad platform spectrum ensures our episodes are accessible, convenient, and always available for listeners.

Stepping out of my comfort zone

Embarking on the podcasting journey felt like stepping into a vast, uncharted wilderness. The very act of conceptualising, producing, and lending my voice to each episode was akin to navigating through a dense forest with no map.

Each step brought forth a whirlwind of emotions. There was palpable excitement at the prospect of sharing ideas and stories. Yet, the undercurrent of anxiety and that nagging question of "What if?" remained.

The theoretical concept of bringing a podcast to life and the reality of actually doing it felt worlds apart. Broadcasting my thoughts and insights to the world meant opening myself up, laying bare my perspectives for appreciation and critique. It was a daunting proposition.

Each successful upload, each positive comment, and constructive criticism became stepping stones, paving a path of learning and growth. The areas that once seemed intimidating slowly transformed into spaces of enlightenment and self-discovery. As the episodes rolled out and feedback poured in, it became clear that this journey, with all its uncertainties, was worth every second of doubt and every ounce of effort.

Therefore, the Digital Discovery Podcast stands not only as a beacon for sharing industry insights and diverse perspectives but also as a chronicle of my personal evolution. It embodies the idea that real growth, both personal and professional, often lies just beyond the boundaries we set for ourselves. And sometimes, all it takes is a bold step into the unknown.

Reflection

Today, I want to take a moment to peel back the curtain on what goes into creating the Digital Discovery Podcast. As many of you know, our podcast has grown significantly in popularity and reach in just one month. While the final product seems seamless, the journey is anything but.

The success of the Digital Discovery Podcast is deeply rooted in our dedication to presenting both Consumer & Retail Industry voices. The range of our guest list is genuinely exceptional. From Founders and CEOs to VPs and heads of eCommerce, I strive to feature thought leaders from all walks of life. These voices hail from firms of varied sizes, and it's heartening to note that an impressive +10% of our audience represents firms with a sizeable workforce from 10-50 @ 18% and 1,000-5,000 @ 10% employees.

It’s a casual, friendly chat that feels genuine!

Joining as a guest on the podcast comes at no charge. This approach ensures our impartiality, allowing me to feature a wide array of vendors and guest profiles without any underlying biases or conflicts of interest.

I believe in fostering an environment where genuine conversations and insights can flourish, unburdened by commercial pressures.

The Journey

Before embarking on this podcasting journey, I was riddled with apprehension. The realm of podcasting was entirely uncharted territory for me, and the fear of the unknown weighed heavily.

Thoughts of potential pitfalls, technical glitches, or even the content not resonating with the audience constantly played in the back of my mind. I'd never ventured into this space before, and the possibility of it all going south felt real.

However, to my genuine surprise, not only did the process unfold with unexpected smoothness, but the reception was overwhelmingly positive.

Contrary to my initial reservations, the podcast's success is a testament to the magic that can happen when we dare to explore the unfamiliar.

The Technical Side

Let's not forget the technical side of things. Setting up the podcast involves investing in the right recording equipment, understanding various media platforms, ensuring top-notch audio quality, and post-production fine-tuning.

And then there's the art of ensuring that our podcast finds its way to the listeners with quality. Behind the scenes was a complete overhaul of my workspace. I found myself diving deep into the world of podcasting equipment, meticulously selecting the right tools to ensure impeccable audio quality.

To effectively distribute our episodes, new platforms had to be explored and understood. Perhaps the most intensive aspect was the installation of an entirely new office network, tailored to support the show's and the business's demands.

Every piece of equipment, software, and network cable was a testament to the commitment and effort put into ensuring that our podcast wasn't just another show but a quality experience for our listeners.

This involves setting up on multiple platforms, managing analytics, and continuously iterating based on feedback and emerging trends.

And paying a friend! 😊
